Spring & Summer UCalgary Student Memberships

UCalgary students not taking any courses from May to August can purchase a four-month spring & summer membership at a special reduced rate of $68.58 including taxes.  

Spring memberships (May-June) or summer memberships (July-August) are also available for a pro-rated price.

Monthly Payroll Deduction

Flexible Spending Account

Wellness Spending Account credits may be used to purchase an Active Living Membership. Eligible staff members receive an annual credit allocation for their discretionary use to help support their overall health and wellness. Employees have the choice to allocate those credits to a Non-taxable Health Spending account and/or Taxable Wellness Spending Account.

Membership Policies

Memberships are refundable within the first two weeks. After the two-week period, memberships are non-refundable and non-transferable. Exceptions are made for relocation outside of Calgary, injury, accident or work-related leave. Written documentation must be provided.

You must have your UNICARD with you at all times when using Active Living facilities.You need to scan it to access the Fitness Centre, Climbing Wall and the Olympic Oval. Wristbands are required when accessing the Aquatic Centre, Bouldering Wall, Racquet Centre or Gymnasiums. Pick-up your wristband at the Active Living Client Services desk (KNA 104), the Fitness Centre desk, or the Outdoor Centre desk.

  • A "Family" pass includes two adults who live in the same household, and their children under 17.
  • All the facilities are shared with University of Calgary students
  • Age Restrictions:
    • Aquatic Centre: During Family Swim Times parents must be within arm's length of children 7 and under. Adult Lane Swimming: swimmers must be 14 and older
    • Fitness Centre: must be 17 and older
      • Anyone between the ages of 14-16 years old who wishes to use the Fitness Centre must complete an orientation with a parent/guardian who will also need to supervise them while they use the Fitness Centre in the future.
      • No Youth 13 and under are permitted
    • Bouldering and Climbing Walls: Under 14 must be directly supervised at all times by a responsible adult, under 7 must keep their hands below the red bouldering line.
    • Gymnasiums: All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
    • Racquet Centre: All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Public and alumni members — get your UNICARD access card. Send a headshot and a photo of your temporary ID card to unicard@ucalgary.ca. Active Living will contact you when the card is ready for pick-up. Send photos

Equipment Rentals

Client Services lends badminton nets, basketballs, volleyballs and more. An active and valid Unicard is required to borrow equipment.

Alberta Health Service

The University of Calgary, in partnership with Alberta Health Services is pleased to offer special membership rates to:

  • Alberta Health Services employees
  • Staff physicians
  • AHS non-staff physicians

All AHS employees and staff physicians will need to register in person and produce their AHS identification at Client Services Office (KNA 104) to receive the special membership rate.

All AHS non-staff physicians will need to register in person and produce their letter of appointment along with personal identification.

Research Park Employees

Employees with offices located in Research Park (located between 40 Ave NW to the North, 32 Ave NW to the South, 37 St. NW to the West and along 33 St NW to the East) are eligible for the Corporate Membership Rates. Employees will need to register in person and bring proof of having an office within the Research Park businesses or buildings.
