Racquet Centre Update
Racquet sports will remain an important part of Active Living. Beginning May 1, 2026, the Racquet Centre will include seven squash courts and three racquetball/pickleball/handball courts. Expanded hours of operation will help accommodate students and members. Below are additional details about courts, access, and programming.
The east side of the current Racquet Centre space will remain dedicated to racquet sports. There are seven squash courts, and three racquetball/pickleball/handball courts.
We’re using the west side of the space to expand fitness and bouldering facilities in response to member feedback and increasing demand for strength training and bouldering, while keeping seven squash courts and three racquetball/pickleball/handball courts on the east side.
Yes, the east courts will remain open and bookable as usual.
Yes, the booking process will not change.
Yes. Students and members are the priority for racquet court bookings. On a weekly basis, nearly 70% of court time is dedicated to student and member bookings for the Spring 2026 semester. This spring, all courts are open for member bookings on Fridays and Sundays, as well as during weekday early mornings and evenings, with additional courts available at other times throughout the week. (Sample schedule coming soon).

Court booking priority will go to students and members. We are making several adjustments to help with court access.

Operating hours will be expanded.
Courts will be open two hours longer Monday to Friday
30 minutes longer on weekends during the Fall and Winter semesters
1 hour longer during the Spring and Summer semesters
To allow more members to book courts, the maximum limit will be one 45-minute booking per day and holding three bookings per 7-day period.
Courts must be canceled 18 hours in advance so other members can use them.
Yes, both adult and youth instructonal programs will be offered with adjusted capacity.
We will continue to accept school bookings, and bookings from both internal and external groups, however students and members are our priority.
Work will begin on May 1, 2026, and the new strength training area on the west side of the space is expected to open in late May or early June.
